Sega Consumer Research and Development Dept. #5 (Sega CS5) was a video game research and development division within Sega. It was established in 1994 alongside Sega CS4 to deal with a growing number of home consoles to develop for, being made to focus on Sega Game Gear. Its producer was Motoshige Hokoyama. When it was abolished in 1995, most likely on August 1, its development staff switched over to Sega Saturn, PC or arcade development, with several staff transferring to Sega AM2. CS5 and its games was the focus of a magazine called Game Boy, the precursor to Power Gamer.
