Stellar Blade 2 probably won't be a Playstation exclusive!
"The Korean studio Shift Up, which stands behind the successful single-player game Stellar Blade, has confirmed that Sony will not be publishing the sequel."
The action-adventure similar to Nier: Automata from 2024 called Stellar Blade will get a sequel, and that has been confirmed for some time already. This came about due to the undeniable financial successes that this game experienced. With good sales on the console, the trend of successful sales continued on PC, and thus the sequel was confirmed with a promise that this time a greater emphasis will be placed on the narrative part, which is the most common criticism of the Korean studio's project.
The first big piece of information related to the sequel is that Sony Interactive Entertainment will not take on the role of publisher this time, so Shift Up will publish its game itself, and very likely for all platforms this time. We remind you, the original was a PlayStation 5 exclusive for a little over a year.
This move followed rumors that Sony is giving up on porting games from their console to PC due to poor financial results. Since they do not have ownership over the Stellar Blade series, nor a publishing contract, it is very possible that the sequel will appear on Xbox and Nintendo platforms alongside PC.
As for the development of the sequel itself, Shift Up confirmed that everything is going according to plan and that we will get some concrete information later this year, but that we will have to wait until late 2027, and probably more realistically the year 2028, for the launch itself.
