About
Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune is the first game in the Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune street racing series based on the Wangan Midnight manga. It has no ties to the earlier 2001 Wangan Midnight Arcade title. It consists of a single cabinet designed to resemble a real car with a steering wheel, brake pedals and gear shift. A Tuning card can be used to save data such as the driver name, type of car and Story mode progress.
The game contains two modes: a Story mode with rivals similar to the manga with 60 races. These races take place on the two available tracks set in Tokyo, C1 and New Belt Line where there is also regular traffic. There are 20 stages in total and these are looped three times to form 60 races. The other mode is the Time Attack mode as a race against the clock to get the best times. The game contains 19 cars licensed from the manufacturers Gemballa (Japanese version only), Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru and Toyota.
