About
The Lost Cases Of Sherlock Holmes is a hidden object game based on the character created by Arthur Conan Doyle. The game has 16 cases to be solved, presented as books on a shelf.
Like in other games of the genre, the main objective is to find objects from a list on a screen littered with assorted things, within a time limit. This game shows greater consistency than previous seek-and-find titles, the plot is better integrated to the gameplay and all objects that appear on the screen look like they belong to the Victorian Era. Characters comment on certain objects, giving clues to the solution of the case.
Each location has a special object that, when collected, starts one of the mini-games. These games are related to the object. For example, a jewel box must be opened by turning dials at the front. Shattered gems have to be reassembled in a necklace. Other games include sliding tiles, concentration and jigsaw puzzles.
A magnifying glass can be used while searching the screen for objects. Hints are collected by finding pieces of Holmes' clothing, like his iconic pipe and cap.
At the end of each case, a screen with portraits of the suspects comes up. The goal is to arrange this portraits in rows and columns according to the suspects characteristics (for example, the bespectacled male gardener goes to the "Men" row, and "Glasses" column). When a case is solved, the next one is unlocked.
