About

The natural balance of the Earth is in disarray, as the world's deserts have flooded, rivers have dried up, and cows are flying. As the player discovers, it turns out the planet is managed by one giant machine, run by a few World Works engineers deep inside the planet. In their attempt to give the world a "tune-up," something has gone wrong, and it's up to the player to travel to the Earth's core to figure out why. It's at the center of the world that the player discovers a strange hybrid species of Mechanimals -- part animal, part machine. Encountering many colorful and memorable characters, you must assist four Mechanimals with their problems to restore the planet to its normal, functioning state.

The Day the World Broke is an adventure game geared toward children. It is played from a first-person perspective, with a simple inventory system. Most gameplay involves conversations with fully rendered 3D characters, with dialogue choices available to the player. There are also a few puzzles to solve, and one notably long fetch quest to perform. The game features detailed, hand-painted art, and there are a few scenes featuring full-motion video of the human engineer characters.
