About
Sushi Cat 2 is a humorous arcade game. Like in its predecessor Sushi Cat, the player once again controls a blob-like cat with an appetite for sushi. The cat's beloved plush kitten toy has been kidnapped by the Bacon Dog. Sushi Cat sets out on a trek across the shopping mall and beyond, devouring copious amounts of sushi in a bid to save his true love.
The gameplay remains similar to that of the previous installment. The player must drop the cat, at a chosen horizontal position, into an obstacle-filled chamber which resembles a pachinko machine. Once dropped, the cat falls down, bouncing off the obstacles and consuming any sushi it comes across, before finally falling down into one of the bins at the bottom of the screen, upon which the cat can be dropped again. The goal on each level is to eat at least 30 pieces of sushi to fill the cat's belly within a certain, limited number of drops.
Score is received for eaten sushi, depending on which bin the cat falls into, and feeding the cat a lot of sushi during one drop can give a score bonus. There are also power-ups to be found among the sushi: "supermarket sweep" which for a short time allows the player to collect pieces of sushi by clicking them; "pinball flippers" popping up which can be used to bounce the cat up to 10 times; the "soy sauce bomb" which can be detonated in three locations in the level to grab nearby sushi; the "dragon punch" which launches the cat in a specific direction while making him pass through all obstacles; and "prize wheel" which randomly selects one of the other powerups.
Collecting special golden pieces of sushi allows the player to unlock new outfits for Sushi Cat.
