About
Endurance Mode introduces a new way to play Rise of the Tomb Raider; as a survival game with permanent death. It is found within the Expeditions mode. Each new game is played in a random-generated map. This mode can be played in Co-op with another player.
Lara Croft is after the artifacts long lost in the Siberian wilderness. She arrives in a snowcat and needs to explore on foot gathering supplies, hunting, and looking for crypts and relics. Two new meters are introduced: hunger and warmth. If any of them drops below the minimum, Lara will quickly loose health and die. If Lara dies, it is game over; there is no save feature. Lara starts at level 1 without any abilities and weapons except her trusty bow. She earns experience points from killing enemies and hunting; the points are used to enhance Lara's abilities at the camp fires. Unlike the base game, Lara needs wood to light a camp fire and the fire will go out over time. Lara will encounter various landmarks (crypts, ruins, enemy camps), and the goal is to scavenge crypts that hold most treasured artifacts and abilities upgrades, and survive as many days as possible. This game mode features day and night cycle, with nights being more dangerous: it is colder, the visibility is lower, and more predators are on the loose. With each passing day it gets harder to survive, as the resources and game animals become more scarce and there's a higher probability of snow storms, and more deadly enemies and predators come out. When the players decide they have survived long enough, they need to light one of the signal fires and then survive until the evac helicopter comes.
