Thrones & Patriots is the expansion pack to Rise of Nations which introduces the following:
- 6 new nations (Iroquois, Lakota, Americans, Dutch, Persians, Indians)
- 20 new units
- 3 new wonder buildings
- 4 new Conquer the World campaigns containing over 130 scenarios: Alexander the Great, Napoleon, The New World, The Cold War
- the government mechanic which allows each player to choose between militaristic or economic ruling types at several intervals, giving different bonuses to their nation
