Resident Evil 7 Teaser: Beginning Hour

This demo includes about an hour worth of gameplay, and it acts as a prologue to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The location (the guesthouse) is the same as in the base game, but the demo stars a different protagonist and it shows a different set of events. The protagonist is cameraman Clancy (who is seen in videotapes in the base game and also is playable in several modes of Resident Evil VII: Biohazard - Banned Footage: Vol.1 and Vol.2), and the demo explains what happened to him right after he and the crew broke into a certain abandoned house in Louisiana. The demo is more puzzle-oriented, although there is a monster, and the player can fight it if he wishes. Several endings are possible depending on the player's actions.

The demo first appeared on the PlayStation Store in June 2016 and was updated several times with more content. Xbox One and PC players received a fully updated version in December 2016.
