OFF

The player has been assigned to control the Batter, a somewhat quiet man dressed like a baseball player, on a mission to "purify" a world made up of four Zones. The world is overrun by specters, and only the Batter is capable of destroying them. However, not all is as it seems, and there may be much more to this purification mission than meets the eye.

OFF is a surreal horror RPG whose battles combine aspects of turn-based and real-time battle systems. The Batter and his three "add-on" party members each run on an action timer, and may only take their turns when their respective action timer has filled. The player may then choose an action for the selected character. Alternatively, there is an "auto" battle option that allows battles to play out faster, at the cost of the player losing direct control over their party in favor of decisions being made by the AI. The player may choose to turn this option on or off at any time during a battle. The other main gameplay aspect is the overworld puzzles, which often consist of challenges relating to memory or simple logic.
