Morbsweeper

Morbsweeper is a puzzle game based on the classic Minesweeper formula and themed around the 2022 box office bomb and subsequent internet meme, Morbius.

Instead of mines, the player navigates a field of Morbius reviews, using the numbers on unoccupied tiles to locate and mark suspected bad reviews with a Certified Fresh™ label to convert them into good reviews.

Where this game diverts from the Minesweeper formula is with the combo meter. Each tile revealed adds to the rapidly depleting combo meter. Should the combo meter be maxed out, the game will enter Morb mode, where all points gained are drastically increased, with the downside being that the player has to constantly reveal tiles to keep it going. This leads to a frantic gameplay loop that forces the player to think on their feet about where the bad reviews could be to maintain Morb Mode. At the end of each game, the player is given a ranking based on performance, ranging from terrible to a game that would make Morbius proud.
