About
The events of this game take place one year after those described in Tsukihime, continuing to focus on the series' main protagonist, the high-school student Shiki Tohno who possesses a supernatural power to destroy objects by tracing their outlines with his glance. Shiki learns of a series of murders committed in Misaki, under circumstances similar to the previous case. As the young man attempts to solve the mystery, he encounters a mysterious woman who attacks him. After the fight she admits that she is a vampire seeking for a cure against her condition. Shiki agrees to help her - but in order to do that, he'll have to defeat opponents whose powers are a match for his own...
Melty Blood combines the gameplay of a 2D versus fighting game with player choices and branching story progression characteristic of visual novels: depending on the outcome of the fights, the story will evolve in different directions. Six characters are available to the player right from the beginning, while eight others should be unlocked by playing through the story mode (in the patched version, all the characters can be played from the beginning). The fighting gameplay incorporates traditional moves, special attacks, and canceling combos. By building up power, players can unleash devastating blows called "EX attacks". Similarly, "EX shielding" will greatly enhance the character's defense. Recovery options are available for further tactical decisions during battles.
