About
The adventure game Lumino City is the sequel to Lume. At the end of that game protagonist Lumi welcomed back her grandfather. When she goes downstairs to make him some tea, there is suddenly a lot of noise and her granddad disappears. Carrying his handyman's manual, she goes after him into Lumino City. There she meets many characters she helps out and meanwhile she learns more about her grandfather's life and history.
As in the first game the locations were first designed as real-life props with the help of architects and fine-artists, and then brought into the game where they were animated. The real model is ten foot high built by hand and by laser cutter, with each motor and light wired up individually.
The player guides Lumi around by tapping or clicking to tell her where to go. She can examine parts of the environment, talk to characters and items can be picked up. These items are stored in her red bag and they often need to be used at other locations. Next to solving small problems to progress, there are many larger, more complex puzzles. Examples include helping an old man play a song on a guitar he wrote for his wife, repairing a fuse box using schematics and lemons, re-arranging light patterns to develop film, powering a machine through a correct sequence of gears, and so on.
