About
Last Half of Darkness: Society of the Serpent Moon is a horror-themed adventure game which takes place in the forlorn town of Antibes, Louisiana. Wendy, a writer and the protagonist's fiancé, travelled to Antibes to investigate a story about some vampire-like killings. Billy, her boyfriend, becomes concerned when a package arrives containing items that insinuate Wendy may be in trouble. Gameplay begins inside Billy's motel room in Antibes.
Players take the role of Billy Black as he searches for clues as to Wendy's whereabouts. As Billy, players will be talking to the town's inhabitants, searching buildings as well as the surrounds of the town, including its cemetery and wharf.
The atmosphere is intentionally dim and dark accompanied by "things that go bump in the night" sound effects and mood-enhancing music. Items collected appear in an inventory window, can be enlarged for closer inspection, used to solve puzzles and some can be combined together.
For the first time in the history of the series, the viewpoint is in third instead of first person. The graphics and interface have been improved over previous games, and an auto-save function has been added. Also new is the use of the Tab key to highlight all interactive spots. An in-game hint book (for inventory) is available as an optional, free download.
