About

i Love Katamari is the second adaptation of the Katamari franchise for mobile devices, following Katamari Damacy Mobile. It follows the same concept with gameplay typical of the series along with bright colours and a humorous tone. The King of All Cosmos had a crazy night out and accidentally knocked all stars out of the sky. He tasks his little Prince to bring back the stars by making him a Katamari. The Katamari is a ball that is rolled by the Prince over objects in a stage. When they are small enough, they stick to the ball, making it grow in size, shown in centimeters. This in turn allows the Prince to roll up larger objects and repeat the process until the goal is met.

The game has several stages set in five environments: the Takeda Residence, a backyard, a park, a town and an island. There are four game modes. Both Story Mode and Time Attack have a time limit per stage. In the first, there are specific goals, while in the latter, the player attempts to make the largest Katamari possible within the allotted time. Time Attack has support for leaderboards. In the third mode, Exact Size Challenge, the size is not displayed and the player needs to try making a specific size of Katamari. When done, "Stop Rolling" can be chosen to compare the size against the goal. The final game mode, Eternal, has no time limit and allows the player to roll up every item in a level. All modes are available right away and some items, part of the Unique Collection, can only be found in specific game modes. Tapping is used to dash forward while tilting the device is used for navigation, along with an on-screen 180-degrees turn button.
