Hades II

Hades II is a single-player roguelike action RPG game.

It follows Melinoë, the immortal daughter of Hades and Persephone, as she takes up a witch’s training under Hecate to oppose the Titan Chronos. His escape from imprisonment disrupts the balance among gods, spirits and mortals, and Melinoë is tasked with traveling through shifting regions of the Underworld and the surface world to confront his forces. Each journey begins at the Crossroads, a refuge for allies and instructors, before she advances through interconnected chambers filled with enemies, rewards and boss encounters.

Combat centers on a selected Nocturnal Arm, each with its own normal attack, special attack and magick-based cast. Melinoë can sprint, dash and channel Omega versions of her abilities by expending Magick, a regenerating resource that powers enhanced strikes and defensive techniques. Rooms are generated anew on every attempt, and clearing them yields rewards that include restorative items, resources and divine Boons. Boons modify Melinoë’s attacks, movement abilities or cast effects, often stacking in ways that define the character’s build for a given run. Regions culminate in boss battles that must be cleared to progress to the next area.

Between runs, the Crossroads serves as a hub for long-term advancement. Materials gathered during expeditions can be used to unlock new weapons, tools and keepsakes, as well as to obtain permanent upgrades through systems such as Arcana cards. These unlock passive bonuses that influence health, Magick, resource acquisition and other foundational traits. Runs can also be customized through the selection of familiars, keepsakes or incantations that alter conditions in subtle or significant ways.

Several secondary systems shape both narrative and mechanical progression. Interactions with Olympian gods introduce specialized Boons, cooperative Duo effects and unique blessings tied to spellcasting and Magick. Encounters with the moon goddess Selene grant Hexes, powerful abilities that can be strengthened through branching upgrades discovered during a run. Dialogue with characters advances storylines over time and can unfold differently depending on repeated attempts, completed objectives and items delivered to specific NPCs. Exploration also expands in two directions, allowing Melinoë to descend deeper into the Underworld or ascend toward the surface, each path offering distinct regions, hazards and bosses.
