Forge of Freedom: The American Civil War 1861-1865 is a historical war game set during the American Civil War. The game puts the player in command at every level of the warfare.

Forge of Freedom combines grand strategy gameplay with tactical battles. On the strategic stage, each turn represents two weeks of real-time; on the tactical level, each turn equals 20 minutes. The game's tactical unit scale is a brigade.
