Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage

Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage is a first-person puzzle adventure game, featuring a mysterious and depressive setting heavily based on the H. P. Lovecraft mythos.

Unlike its predecessor, this second chapter is done in full 3D, instead of using simple pre-rendered backgrounds. While in the first game the controls were more akin to classic point-and-click games like Myst, now the player has more freedom of movement, just like in a first-person shooter.

The inventory system remains similar to the one previously used, where players can combine items using the brain icon to try and extract some clues by "thinking" about the objects in question.

The story follows the detective Howard Loreid once again, whereas after the struggle to retain his sanity after his encounters with the paranormal in the first game, he now finds himself at an old cottage, with no recollection of how he got there. In it, he finds a mysterious letter, telling him to head to the town of Arkhamend. Will Howard find what he's looking for, or simply head further down into his own doom ...?
