Windows 11 is finally getting the long-awaited Xbox Mode!
The latest gaming mode that turns your PC into something like a console is slowly rolling out to users.

Xbox Mode is a fullscreen interface, like a console UI.
It is optimized for a controller.
It allows easier game launching and browsing your library from Game Pass and other platforms.
It also reduces background processes for better performance.
It can even be set to launch automatically when the PC starts! It also uses less RAM, saving up to 2GB.

But this is not just a feature, it’s also an attempt to make PC a more Xbox-like experience.
Gaming on Windows can finally be as simple as on a console.
In other words; Microsoft wants players to turn on their PC and start playing immediately, without dealing with the desktop.

This is part of their bigger plan, which is merging Xbox with the PC ecosystem.
Microsoft is already pushing Xbox Game Pass and releasing games on multiple platforms. Or maybe even the next Xbox will be more like a PC, literally Windows-based.
Xbox Mode is a test for a future console.

If it works, the line between PC gaming and consoles disappears. That means Xbox can become more of a platform than a device, but it also makes things easier for developers; since they can make one version of a game for everything.

Windows is now getting a console-like mode. The focus is on simplicity and controller use, and it’s part of a bigger plan to merge the PC and Xbox worlds.

Realistically; this is no longer just another feature update, it’s a step toward Xbox becoming Windows, and Windows becoming Xbox. Which is great both for PC players and Xbox players!
