Windows 11 finally gets more customization, taskbar is back

"Microsoft is finally, after a long time, bringing back more customization options to Windows 11 after years of criticism because of the rigid taskbar and Start menu."

Microsoft is finally, after a long time, bringing back more customization options to Windows 11 after years of criticism because of the rigid taskbar and Start menu. People are extremely happy about this change.

The new options being brought back include moving the taskbar to the top, left, right, or bottom. Just like it used to be in Windows 10.
There is also Start menu resizing, a smaller taskbar mode, and even the ability to hide certain sections of the Start menu. Microsoft is also changing "recommended" to "recent".

The problem with all of this is that Windows 11 removed many customization options at launch that had existed for years in Windows 10 and older versions. Because of that, people constantly criticized the locked taskbar, the worse Start menu, and the lack of control over the UI. It felt like Windows 11 was completely uncustomizable and unwilling to listen to its users.

A lot of users are happy about this change and have been waiting for it for a very long time, but some people say that all of these features already existed before.
Some even spent years using third-party programs like Start11 and Open-Shell just to bring back old functions that were removed.

Microsoft is obviously trying to win back Windows fans and shift the focus away from AI hype back to the basic user experience like it should have been from the start. Because many people felt that Windows 11 was pushing Copilot and AI more than actual usability.

Windows 11 is finally getting more customization options, and the taskbar will once again be movable and resizable. The community is very happy, but many people say this should have existed from the very beginning.

These features are currently only available in Windows Insider builds.
