We finally got a release date for Silent Hill: Townfall, and it looks completely different from Silent Hill 2 Remake because it uses first-person.
After years of silence about the new Silent Hill: Townfall, Konami showed a fresh trailer for the new Silent Hill: Townfall during the new State of Play event, and finally confirmed the release date.
The game launches on September 24, 2026 for PlayStation 5, but also for PC as well.
For many fans, this is the first time Townfall feels like a real major Silent Hill game, and not just a mysterious spin-off announced back in 2022.
Silent Hill: Townfall looks completely different from Silent Hill 2 Remake. Unlike Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 Remake, Townfall uses a first-person perspective and puts much more focus on exploration, atmosphere, and psychological horror. A huge role is also played by a new device called CRTV, which is basically an evolution of the legendary radio from previous Silent Hill games. Using that device, players discover clues, find enemies, and piece together the mystery of the town of St. Amelia in Scotland.
One of the most interesting things is that the developers emphasize that you will not always have to kill enemies. Townfall combines stealth, running away, hiding, all of that together with classic combat. It feels much closer to the survival horror roots of the series than the action horror games from the last few years.
Among fans, the biggest discussion right now is not about the story but about the camera. While some believe that first-person further increases the horror, others would rather prefer a traditional third-person perspective like Silent Hill 2 Remake. Still, most reactions after the State of Play presentation seem positive, especially because of the atmosphere and the creepy visual identity of the game.
We know that Silent Hill: Townfall definitely is not trying to become the new Silent Hill 2.
Instead, it is making a darker and more experimental horror story with a first-person view, new mechanics, and a focus on psychological tension.
If the trailer represents what awaits us in September, Silent Hill: Townfall could become one of the biggest horror surprises of 2026.
