Developers of Vampire Survivors are working on 15+ projects, but it’s not exactly what you think.
Studio Poncle is currently working on more than 15 projects at the same time. This information comes from an interview with their chief strategy officer.
But the key thing is that these are not all new games like people assume.
It’s not 15 games in development like people think; THE REALITY IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!
Within those 15+ projects are actually DLCs, free updates, spin-off games, collaborations with other studios, and completely new IPs.
So it’s a mix of small and big things, not 15 AAA projects. (Tbh that would be too much anyway)
Vampire Survivors has over 27 million players, and that huge success gave them money, resources, and the ability to expand the studio. They are opening new teams and studios, combining Japan and Italy.
That’s why they can work on so many projects!
Because they are an indie studio that exploded, and now they are expanding the IP!
Projects we can expect include spin-offs like Vampire Crawlers, Survivor-like games in other universes in a Warhammer-style direction, but also completely new original games. They are basically building a small “Survivors universe”.
The key mindset of this studio is that they don’t want to become a AAA giant. Instead, they focus on smaller projects and experimentation, but also fast development. So they work in a “many smaller games” style rather than one massive project.
15+ projects sounds crazy on its own, but it includes DLC and updates. The studio is expanding thanks to the massive success of the game.
And the focus stays on smaller, creative projects.
This is actually a very smart move—instead of risking everything on one big project, they are building an entire ecosystem out of one hit.
