Ubisoft has finally responded to the criticism surrounding the microtransactions in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, saying that those same microtransactions are completely optional.

After Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced launched with an in-game store containing $85 worth of additional content, some fans accused Ubisoft of turning the remake of a beloved classic into just another game filled with microtransactions. The company has now finally addressed the situation, stating that all paid add-ons in the game are completely optional and are not required to enjoy the game.

Ubisoft says that the additional packs mainly include cosmetic items, resources, and other bonuses that are simply meant to help players and are not mandatory. As Ubisoft points out, none of those packs are required to complete the game, nor do they lock any important content behind additional purchases.

But even despite that, many players believe that the presence of microtransactions in a game sold at the full price of $60 is not justified at all, especially because the remake already launches without some content from the original, such as the Freedom Cry expansion.

Ubisoft claims that the microtransactions in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced are not mandatory and that the game can be completed entirely without any additional purchases.

However, that was not enough to silence criticism from part of the community, which believes that a premium remake of one of the most beloved Assassin's Creed titles should not have launched with a store full of additional paid content.
