Ubisoft has announced Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag REMAKE, but they announced it in a very specific and funny way!
Ubisoft said that "gaming's worst-kept secret" will be revealed this week! And there’s not even a need to point out that it’s going to be **Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag REMAKE!
Yeah, that’s literally how Ubisoft announced it!
Even they know how big of a meme it is! "Worst-kept secret" comes from the fact that leaks about this game have existed since 2023, insiders kept confirming it, and Ubisoft even accidentally acknowledged it in a blog before. Everyone already knew it existed. It was a secret that everyone knew, which is exactly why it’s called "gaming's worst-kept secret."
Ubisoft announced that the full reveal will happen this week, on April 23, 2026, and that it will showcase full gameplay, what has actually been changed, and maybe even the release date of the game itself.
However... is this a Remake? Or a Remaster? That’s the main mystery right now.
If it’s a real remake, it will have a new engine, better combat, and maybe even new content, with modernized gameplay.
But if it’s a remaster, it will just be better graphics with the same gameplay and minimal changes. That’s what fans are worried about!
However, it’s most likely a true remake considering the game has reportedly been in production for a long time, even since 2023. It would be strange if it wasn’t a remake.
They chose Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag because it’s one of the most beloved Assassin’s Creed titles, with pirates, ships, and naval combat. The open world is also very unique, and if they do this right—it could be a HUGE hit!
Ubisoft is currently in a bit of a shaky situation though, with layoffs, delays, and canceled projects.
That’s exactly why they need a safe hit like Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag REMAKE. Remaking such a popular game is the lowest risk move, so it makes sense.
Ubisoft has finally revealed what we all already knew—but now the real question is: will it be a fire remake, or just a cash grab… we’ll find out this week!
