Crystal Dynamics has carried out another round of layoffs, cutting 20 employees from its studio and marking the fourth wave of job losses in the past 12 months. The studio stated that the decision is part of a reorganizing process, as its projects move into new phases of development. Despite the layoffs, Crystal Dynamics confirmed it remains fully committed to its upcoming Tomb Raider titles, which were first announced four years ago.

However, these recurring layoffs have fueled significant skepticism within the community, leading many to question the actual health of the next Tomb Raider’s development. While a teaser for the upcoming title, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, was recently released, the lack of substantial gameplay footage four years after the initial announcement has left fans uneasy. With this marking the fourth wave of staff reductions in just a single year, there are growing fears that the project's momentum is being hindered by internal instability, potentially leading to further delays for a title that remains one of the most highly anticipated returns in the industry.
