The Witcher 4 to Feature PC-Exclusive Graphical Upgrades!
"CD Projekt RED has officially confirmed that the upcoming entry in The Witcher series will support full path tracing on the PC version."
This ambitious graphical leap is being developed in close collaboration with both NVIDIA and Epic Games, ensuring the title pushes the boundaries of the Unreal Engine 5 framework.
RTX Mega Geometry
Far from just a standard visual update, the PC version will debut NVIDIA’s new RTX Mega Geometry technology. This feature is designed to optimize performance in demanding path-tracing scenarios by compressing complex geometry into clusters. By doing so, the game can significantly reduce video memory (VRAM) usage while simultaneously boosting frame rates, allowing for a more stable experience even with the most advanced lighting effects enabled.
This news comes as a welcome relief to the PC community following last year's reports that the PlayStation 5 would be the lead platform for development. While CD Projekt RED is shifting its traditional "PC-first" development cycle to ensure console parity, these exclusive features prove that the PC version will still receive elite-tier treatment. Currently, the path-tracing settings remain a PC exclusive, as the hardware in today’s consoles is not yet capable of handling such intensive real-time calculations.
