The Far Cry series won't be an adaptation of any game!

"As the trend of video games receiving their own screen adaptations has become popular, why then say "no" to a direct adaptation of the Far Cry series?"

Especially since the producer of the upcoming series confirmed that we won't see an adaptation of any stories told in the games so far.

You might then wonder—what connection does it actually have to the Far Cry franchise? The answer lies in the fact that the series will translate the motifs and ideas that permeate the game series itself. This involves people trapped on exotic islands threatened by various types of lunatics. It is certain that no character known to us so far will appear in the series.

"I’m not specifically adapting any of the games that they’ve put out – I’m saying much as I did with the Coens or X-Men or Alien, ‘Let me have a dialog with this franchise, because this is what I think a Far Cry story is.’ We can have a larger conversation about the strengths and weaknesses of adapting video games specifically because games are built in a way that doesn’t make for the best drama," he said.

"When you play a video game, you only really move forward through the gameplay section, and then you have these cut scenes that you can skip, so when you go to adapt those games you have to be aware that makes the human drama kind of irrelevant to the storyline. That is death for a show."

I don't want to be rude, so for that reason, I will call this stance "interesting." Thinking that the story in Far Cry games plays no role simply because cutscenes can be skipped is highly questionable. The truth is that Far Cry games are primarily shooters where the focus is on gameplay and various possibilities, but at the end of the day, this series bases its relevance on the mainstream scene on its unique characters.

To wrap up, I'll leave you with a question: what do you remember most from Far Cry games? Characters like Vaas and Pagan Min, or something else?
