A new leak for Dying Light 3 has come out, claiming that Dying Light 3 could be set in Japan!

A new leak coming from Techland allegedly reveals that Dying Light 3 could take us into a Japanese world. Fans found "Asian Street" files in an update for Dying Light 2, and the assets they discovered supposedly show modern streets that strongly resemble Japanese cities. Techland may have accidentally leaked the setting of the next major Dying Light game.

The leak was discovered after an update for Dying Light 2; players found unfinished files, including "Asian Street" assets and urban blocks, as well as narrow streets, tall buildings, rooftops, etc...
Some models don’t have textures though, but they look like very early development builds, most likely unfinished.
All of this immediately sparked theories that the next Dying Light 3 will be set in Japan.

The newly found assets match older rumors claiming that the GRE organization will have a base IN JAPAN!
As well as that the next game will continue the story after Dying Light: The Beast.
Also, Techland has already said they have plans for Dying Light 3, and that Dying Light: The Beast is not actually the true third installment of the series.
That’s why the community is now connecting The Beast, Japan, and Dying Light 3.

Japan would actually be perfect for Dying Light 3, and that might be the strongest part of this whole story. Fans immediately started imagining neon cities, narrow streets, massive rooftop zones you can climb, vertical parkour, horror chases at night, absolutely everything! Which is a very good sign that Japan could fit Dying Light gameplay perfectly.
Parkour and a Japanese mega city sound like a perfect combo.

Reactions are mixed, many say the setting would be perfect and fans want a darker atmosphere with more horror and a return to a more serious tone.

On the other hand, there are also some negative reactions where players said they don’t trust Techland after Dying Light 2.
They criticize the story, monetization, and live service elements.
So the hype for a Japanese setting is still there, but trust in the studio has really gone down.

Even though it looks like Techland may have accidentally leaked this, it’s important to note that Techland developers have not officially said anything or announced Dying Light 3, nor confirmed a Japanese setting.
For now, everything we’ve heard is just a leak, speculation, and pure fan imagination.
