"Yakuza: Like a Dragon developers revealed that their new game Stranger Than Heaven will take place across not just two, but five different eras, as well as five different cities."

A fresh trailer for Stranger Than Heaven dropped by Ryu Ga Gotoku during the March 2026 Xbox Partner Preview offered fans a clearer glimpse into the team's latest project. Though brief, the footage revealed journeys through five distinct eras - starting in 1915 and ending in 1965 - with each chapter unfolding in its own city. This structure hints at broader scope than many had assumed possible.

Something about the trailer kept things quiet on plot, yet still whispered of a journey leaping through decades - faces shifting, places transforming, eras folding into each other. Not every game dares stretch time like that, but here it might become the core pulse, given how these stories thrive on deep settings and lives lived loud. While many stick to one moment, this feels built around change itself.

Fans are left guessing when Stranger Than Heaven will arrive. Yet, news could come sooner than thought. On May 6, the Ryu Ga Gotoku crew plans a stream called Xbox Presents: A Special Look at Stranger Than Heaven - this might reveal what’s been hidden so far. Viewers may see actual play moments. Another possibility? Learning how shifting timelines fit together in surprising ways. Details remain thin, but curiosity grows.

Stranger Than Heaven is a game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, featuring similar mechanics and gameplay to their original Yakuza: Like a Dragon titles. The game was originally called “Project Century,” but was later changed to its current title, which now makes more sense after seeing the new trailer.
