"Stranger Than Heaven has finally received an official release date, and.... TUPAC IS IN THE GAME??! WHAAT??!?!"
Stranger Than Heaven has finally received an official release date, and.... TUPAC IS IN THE GAME??! WHAAT??!?!
RGG Studio, the studio behind the Yakuza & Like a Dragon games, revealed a bunch of new details about Stranger Than Heaven, and the biggest surprise is that the game is actually releasing during winter 2026, meaning this year. Even crazier, AMONG THE CHARACTERS ARE FAMOUS HISTORICAL AND MUSICAL FIGURES; including Tupac Shakur, which nobody expected at all. For example, it never even crossed my mind.
This game is truly becoming weirder and weirder, but in the best possible way, and that's the most interesting part about all of this. We already knew that Snoop Dogg was involved in the project, playing a smuggler named Orpheus, but now it's definitely clear that RGG Studio is making something much bigger than a simple crime story. The game follows the life of Makoto Daito across five decades and five different time periods, from 1915 to 1965.
Stranger Than Heaven is actually the game that was previously known as Project Century, the mysterious project that fans have been following since 2024. More and more clues point toward the game being connected to the origins of the Tojo Clan from the Yakuza universe, even if RGG Studio still doesn't want to fully confirm it. Besides that, the game doesn't look like a classic Yakuza title, because it features a combat system that allows independent control of the left and right sides of the body during fights, which sounds completely insane and very different from anything the studio has done before.
Fans have mostly lost their minds after this reveal; first everyone was trying to figure out whether this was a Yakuza prequel, then Snoop Dogg appeared, and now there are stories about historical figures like Tupac. It's as if RGG Studio is making the most ambitious project in its history, and expectations are currently through the roof.
The more we see of Stranger Than Heaven, the less and less it looks like just another new game from RGG Studio, and more like their completely insane magnum opus.
