Steam finally fixes local game transfers with new update

Steam has finally fixed once again the local transfer between games, and now it works very smoothly, better, and with fewer errors.

Valve recently released a new update in which it fixed a Steam feature that wasn't working that well; local game transfers. Steam with this new update fixes the problem with local network game transfers, so players can now transfer games between their computers and devices such as the Steam Deck over a local network without having to download them again from the internet at all.

Steam has been allowing installed games to be transferred from one device to another over a local network for some time now, and this is especially useful if, for example, you already have a game installed on your desktop computer but want to transfer it to a laptop or Steam Deck.

However, this feature recently started causing serious problems for Steam users. In some cases, Steam would try to download the game over the internet even if another computer on the same local network already had the exact same files installed. Valve has now officially fixed this problem through their latest Steam Client update, so local transfers should once again work as intended.

To get this new fix, you only need to update your Steam Client to the latest version.
This should happen automatically, but if for some reason it doesn't, you can simply open Steam on PC, go to Check for Steam Client Updates. On the Steam Deck, you can update it through Settings, then System, Software Updates. After installing this update, you need to restart Steam or your Steam Deck.

Valve has fixed Steam's local game transfer feature, which previously used the internet instead of the local network in some cases.

Now you can once again transfer huge games from one computer to another without using up your internet bandwidth and data; the only important thing is to keep your Steam Client updated.
