Valve has finally officially confirmed all the details for the newest Steam Controller! THE PRICE IS $99!
The leaks we saw earlier about the Steam Controller price were accurate.
And the release date for the Steam Controller has also been confirmed; it will be released on May 4, 2026.
What this means in practice is that the Steam Controller is actually coming very soon, almost immediately! Which is awesome for all people that want to buy it soon.
It will be available directly through Steam, just like the Steam Deck.
Valve is pushing it as part of their larger hardware ecosystem they’re planning.
Valve says they are still working on the Steam Machine and the VR device, but there is no concrete release date for those two.
In the interview, they said they don’t have an exact timeline for the other devices.
In other words; the Controller is ready! But everything else is still delayed. It's for sure that their reason for that is because they want to deliever people the highest quality.
Valve has also confirmed that this price is affected by more expensive transport and hardware.
So they don’t want to sell hardware at a loss like some other companies, which is why it’s more expensive than standard controllers.
This is the first of three major Valve hardware projects;
Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and Steam Frame (VR machine).
This controller that has released has opened a new phase for all of them.
The price and date from the leaks are now 100% confirmed! And the release date is May 4, 2026.
But the Steam Machine and VR are still without a date.
It’s clear that Valve is playing it safe; first releasing the controller to test the market, and only then pushing bigger projects like the Steam Machine and Steam Frame (VR machine).
