Star Wars Zero writer ditches the "chosen one" trope

The writer of Star Wars Zero Company recently said that they and their team want the characters to have real conflict between each other, and for the game not to be a power fantasy role-play where you are the perfect main hero who is the strongest and solves everything.
This is actually much deeper than it sounds at first glance, it’s basically the entire philosophy of the game.
In most games, you are the chosen one hero that everyone loves, everything revolves around you, and you are always the best in every aspect of the story.
However, NOT HERE, the writer literally said they don’t want something like that.
They want the main character Hawks not to be a "chosen one", but instead something more realistic, a leader, a strategist, someone who has to negotiate and balance the team.
So not an OP character, but a leader of a squad that isn’t perfect at all, but is very realistic.
Characters in their story wouldn’t always get along, they would have different ideologies, there could even be arguments between them, tough decisions, etc...
Not a typical happy team, but a real squad with conflicts and personalities.
Permadeath, your relationships with characters, and your decisions are just some of the hard elements that will affect the game.
Every decision you make will carry weight throughout the entire story.

They are aiming more for a "Rogue One" style, meaning war and sacrifice, as well as a morally gray zone. Not a perfect hero who saves the entire galaxy.
The game would be more in the style of Mass Effect or Baldur's Gate 3, which is a very good sign considering those are some of the greatest games today precisely because of their conflicts, characters, and tough decisions that affect everything. Unlike typical games where the main character is OP and the story doesn’t affect them at all.
If they pull this off right, it could be one of the best Star Wars stories in games!
