Sony recently made its first tweet ever since the controversy surrounding the end of physical disc releases. And as expected; THE COMMENTS EXPLODED!
After Sony recently made the decision and announced that it would stop releasing new PlayStation games on physical discs starting in 2028, the company remained completely silent on social media for several days. But after the company recently made a post on X/Twitter, and just as we all expected, the players' reactions were exactly that. EXPLOSIVE! Almost every single comment was about Sony's controversial decision to end physical discs, rather than the post itself.
Sony's first tweet after several days of silence had absolutely nothing to do with the controversial situation surrounding its decision to end physical PlayStation game releases on discs. Instead, the post was promoting a completely different type of content. However, gamers took that opportunity to once again express their dissatisfaction.
The comments were flooded with messages such as "Bring back discs", "Don't kill physical media", and calls for Sony to change its decision. Many users criticized the company for ignoring the community's reaction and the majority of players, while continuing with its regular posts as if nothing had happened.
Most of the comments under the post were negative, and many players said they would continue reminding Sony about this decision under every future post until the company responds to the criticism.
On the other hand, part of the community believes that the entire situation will calm down over time and that Sony will simply wait for the initial wave of backlash to pass without changing any of its plans.
Sony's first tweet after announcing the end of physical PlayStation game releases did not go the way the company probably expected.
Instead of discussing the new post, almost the entire conversation once again turned into a debate about the end of physical discs. For now, however, there are no signs that Sony will abandon its plan to release new PlayStation games exclusively in digital format starting in 2028.
