"Sony and Honda were working together on an electric car called Afeela, but the project has now been canceled before the vehicle ever reached the market."

Afeela was first revealed in January 2023, alongside its initial prototype. The car was designed as a futuristic EV packed with advanced technology, including large display screens, app integration, and entertainment features inspired by the PlayStation ecosystem. In simple terms, it was meant to feel like a mix between a gaming console and a car, allowing passengers to play games or watch content while the vehicle was parked or charging. The expected price was around $90,000.

However, Honda has since shifted its plans for electric vehicles and decided to cancel several EV projects. Without Honda’s technology and support, Sony was unable to continue development of the car. Reports suggest that a slowing EV market and the vehicle’s high price compared to its offering were among the key reasons behind the decision.

This marks another attempt by Sony to expand beyond its traditional industries, following earlier moves into new technology sectors. However, this particular venture into the automotive space has come to an early end.

While the car will never make it to real-world roads, it has still found a place in Gran Turismo 7, where players can experience it virtually.
