Sony reportedly ending PC releases for single-player games
"According to recent internal comments from Hermen Hulst, future narrative-driven PlayStation exclusives will reportedly no longer launch on PC."
Sony appears to have officially changed course when it comes to bringing its major single-player titles to PC.
According to recent internal comments from Hermen Hulst, future narrative-driven PlayStation exclusives will reportedly no longer launch on PC. If the current strategy remains in place, upcoming titles such as Ghost of Yōtei, Saros, and Marvel's Wolverine will stay exclusive to PlayStation platforms.
The decision does not come as a complete surprise. Industry speculation surrounding Sony’s growing hesitation toward PC releases has been circulating for months, with reports suggesting that internal discussions increasingly focused on concerns that delayed PC launches could weaken the PlayStation brand and reduce the overall value of the console ecosystem.
Sony still supports multiplayer and live service expansion
This does not mean PlayStation is abandoning multiplatform releases entirely. Multiplayer and live service projects are still expected to launch on a wider range of platforms, but Sony’s approach toward large-scale single-player blockbusters appears to be changing significantly.
The move marks a major shift after several years in which PlayStation steadily expanded its presence on PC by releasing previously exclusive titles for a broader audience. For PC players, this could signal the end of the “coming later to PC” strategy that had become increasingly common with PlayStation releases.
At the same time, the decision highlights Sony’s apparent attempt to reinforce the identity of PlayStation as the primary home for its biggest narrative-driven experiences. However, many fans have pointed out that the current console generation delivered major first-party single-player releases at a much slower pace than previous generations, leading some to argue that the value of PlayStation exclusivity has already weakened in recent years.
