The developers, Mega Crit, have released a roadmap for Slay the Spire 2! BUT... They intentionally didn’t include any exact dates. So we can see and know what’s coming, but we don’t know exactly when.

According to them, the main reason they did this is because they don’t want to make a "sloppy Spire 2".
In other words, if they set exact dates, they would have to meet them, which would force them to rush development, and that would lead to a drop in quality. And the result? WORSE UPDATES AND HALF-FINISHED CONTENT!
That’s why they decided it’s better for the game to have no deadlines for when things release, rather than becoming a bad game.

They also said earlier that they’re working in a style of small iterations, constant testing, listening to community feedback, and changing things when needed.

But how will development look if not traditional?
Instead of a classic roadmap, updates will arrive when they’re ready. The focus will be on balance and new cards, aka relics, gameplay changes, and at the end of it all; POLISH!

And since the game is in Early Access, this is actually the best possible approach for them. Almost ideal!
The community tests everything along the way.

Early Access already launched in March 2026.
And the full version will probably be in 2027 or 2028, based on the fact that Early Access usually lasts one to two years.

All of this has both good and bad sides!
The good side is that quality will probably be much better and there won’t be rushed updates, plus more creative freedom.
But the downside is that we have no idea when things are coming, and it can feel like nothing is happening. Many gamers hate uncertainty.

For a game like Slay the Spire, where balance is everything and one bad update can ruin everything, their decision makes sense.
