"Slay the Spire 2 is coming to Early Access on Steam with co-op, new characters. Watch the new trailer and full details on this roguelike deck builder game."

The long-awaited sequel to the indie roguelike deck-builder phenomenon Slay the Spire is finally gearing up for its next big step. Developer MegaCrit has released a new Early Access trailer that not only sets a firm launch date but also teases some exciting new features coming to the game.

Early Access Launch Date Locked In

Slay the Spire 2 will officially launch in Early Access on 05.03.2026., exclusively on Steam - PC. This comes after the sequel was delayed from its originally planned 2025 release window, much to the anticipation of fans who’ve been waiting for the next chapter in the roguelike deck-building saga. After the Early Acces is done, StS2 will come to consoles PS5, Xbox and Switch 2. Early Acces will last a year or two.

Slay the Spire 2 coop

The new trailer confirms the date and showcases a mix of high-quality animated sequences and gameplay snippets that showcase the evolved challenges and strategic depth players can expect.

What’s New — Co-Op, Characters, and More

According to reports on the trailer and official announcements:

Up to four-player co-op will be supported at launch — a major addition for the series that transforms how players can tackle the Spire together. So I can blame someone other then me for failure. I must admit, didn't expect this, but coop is always welcome in games.

New and old characters

The game will feature a mix of new and returning characters, including the classic Defect who has buffed up like he was doing Tom Platz workout routine as well as two fresh characters: the Necrobinder and the Regent.

A total of five playable characters are confirmed at Early Access start, giving players a broad range of playstyles right away.

The trailer also highlights new environments, enemies, cards, relics, and other gameplay systems designed to expand on the core deck-building mechanics that made the original a standout hit.

The Spire Awaits

Set a thousand years after the events of the first game, Slay the Spire 2 reawakens the mysterious tower with fresh dangers and deeper strategic surprises at every turn. Whether players choose to climb alone or team up with friends, the sequel promises a roguelike experience that’s both familiar and boldly expanded.

With Early Access just weeks away, tension and excitement are building in the Slay the Spire community — and many fans are already adding the game to their Steam wishlists in anticipation.
