A new project by the famous director, Shinji Mikami, has been revealed almost unnoticed precisely because it was shown as a teaser rather than an official announcement. The teaser itself has sparked numerous rumors that Mikami is working on yet another video game through his studio Unbound. There is very little information regarding this rumor, but at first glance, it seems that the creator of Resident Evil is returning to his roots.
The director himself is very well known for his work in the Survival genre and millions have played his games, so it is highly expected that we will get another such game—which is why I, being a huge fan of the Resident Evil series, as well as many people around the world, am very interested! Unbound is Mikami’s latest studio, founded just after his departure from Tango Gameworks in 2023. It has been confirmed that the studio is working on a title with a multi-million dollar budget, with a balance between AAA quality and scope.
The video from studio Unbound reveals almost nothing about the actual plot of the game, but it has triggered intense rumors about a return to older, darker themes. Although nothing has been officially confirmed, it seems that Mikami is returning to what he knows best with this project, creating high-quality horror games that will be played for decades to come.
On top of all this, it was recently confirmed that the studio is also collaborating with other studios, which would significantly speed up the process as well as expand its horizons and rise to even greater heights. There is little information about this, so it remains for us to see what Unbound is preparing for us and what kind of masterpiece we are dealing with.
