The newest Resident Evil, which is a remake of an old Resident Evil game; Resident Evil Veronica, WILL NOT BE PLAYED IN FIRST PERSON!
One of the biggest questions after the announcement of Resident Evil Veronica was whether Capcom would follow the path of games like Resident Evil 7 and use a first-person camera, and now we finally have confirmation regarding that. They stated that Resident Evil Veronica is a third-person game, meaning it will use an over-the-shoulder camera similar to the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4.
This is a huge deal for fans of the original Code: Veronica. Interestingly, as soon as the new Resident Evil was announced, part of the community became worried that Capcom might switch to a first-person approach like in Resident Evil 7, or offer both modes like in Resident Evil Requiem.
However, according to information that surfaced recently after the announcement of the game, Resident Evil Veronica is designed as an exclusively third-person experience, much closer to the modern remakes than Resident Evil 7.
The reactions to this have mostly been very positive, which is completely understandable considering how much people love playing in third person. The most common comments from fans were that they're happy about it and don't want anyone messing with the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remake formula. Many actually believe that the third-person approach is exactly why the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes became so successful, so the news that Resident Evil Veronica is following the same path only increased the hype. On the other hand, part of the player base is curious about how much Capcom will change the story, characters, and tone of the original Code: Veronica.
If you were worried that Resident Evil Veronica would become another first-person Resident Evil, you can completely relax.
Capcom has confirmed that the remake is going down the third-person route, essentially continuing the style already established by the Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 remakes. That's probably exactly what the majority of fans wanted to hear.
