Ubisoft, Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan have released an extensive six-minute gameplay trailer for Rayman Legends Retold, offering the most detailed look yet at the remake's new features, mechanics and expanded content.
The game is described as a bold new take on one of the most acclaimed platformers ever made, combining a comprehensive visual and mechanical overhaul with entirely new content, narrative twists and a significantly expanded soundtrack — including additional musical levels.
Return to the Glade of Dreams and Explore a Brand-New Sixth Region
The story takes players back to the familiar Glade of Dreams, where everyday life is disrupted by a new dark threat emerging from the depths below.
When a mysterious villain begins spreading corruption throughout the magical worlds, Rayman and his friends are forced to embark on their most ambitious adventure yet in order to restore balance.
While the iconic levels from the original game have been extensively upgraded both visually and technically, the Retold edition also introduces a mysterious sixth region filled with new challenges.
Players will also be able to ride massive dragons and tackle new obstacles in the newly added Cave of Trials mode.
The core movement and combat remain as fast, fluid and energetic as ever. Players will once again jump, hover and punch their way through colorful stages, while the series' memorable rhythm-based levels return in even greater numbers.
Four completely new musical stages have been introduced, with every jump and attack synchronized to the beat of the soundtrack.
Music for the game is being handled by Christophe Héral and legendary composer Grant Kirkhope. Their new compositions, combined with returning themes and fully voiced animated sequences, are designed to give the game's presentation a more cinematic feel.
Four-Player Local Co-op and an Improved Kung Foot Mode
One of the series' defining features also remains intact: local cooperative play.
The entire campaign can be played with up to four players on the same screen, bringing back the familiar chaos of competing for Lums, rescuing Teensies and occasionally knocking friends off platforms along the way.
The popular side mode Kung Foot is also making a return.
This time around, it features more precise and responsive controls, special power-ups and customizable rules that allow players to create their own local matches and tournaments.
Following a recent delay, Rayman Legends Retold is officially set to launch on December 3 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
