In just 72 hours, the developers from China confirmed that Phantom Blade Zero reached the very impressive milestone of 4 million copies sold. That means sales are currently outpacing one million copies per day on the market, a feat not many games can boast about. Confirmation came directly from the developer, who expressed gratitude on their official X account with the message: “Thank you everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support!”
At launch, Phantom Blade Zero garnered stellar reviews from both critics and the public, currently sitting at an 88 critic score and an 8.8 user score, which is also not a very common occurrence. The game was praised above all for looking exactly as it was originally showcased. Player satisfaction was immediately apparent through Steam reviews, as well as player activity, considering the game surpassed 800,000 active concurrent players on Steam.
It must be noted that the first million copies sold arrived prior to the official launch in the form of pre-orders. Given that the game originated in China, a good portion of the player base undoubtedly came from there; still, no matter how impressive Phantom Blade Zero's numbers are, they are not quite near Black Myth: Wukong, which sold 10 million copies in just 3 days.
In case you aren't familiar, Phantom Blade Zero is the new hit game coming from Chinese developer S-Game, belonging to the action-RPG genre. It should be taken into account that this is not just another Souls clone; thus, while the game can be challenging at times during boss fights, it is still not the level of difficulty that enthusiasts of the Souls genre would expect.
