"Ed Boon, one of the developers of the Mortal Kombat series, recently confirmed that A NEW MORTAL KOMBAT IS IN THE WORKS!"

Ed Boon, one of the developers of the Mortal Kombat series, recently confirmed that A NEW MORTAL KOMBAT IS IN THE WORKS!

Yes, we finally got confirmation that a new Mortal Kombat game is planned from the most reliable source possible. But we also got confirmation that the studio is working on more projects besides Mortal Kombat.
AND ALL OF THIS COMES AT A TIME WHEN RUMORS ABOUT INJUSTICE 3 ARE CIRCULATING!

Boon literally said "definitely pursuing another Mortal Kombat game" but also mentioned that the studio is working on multiple projects at the same time, it's just a shame he didn’t say exactly what their next project is.
The last game, Mortal Kombat 1, was released in 2023.
This means Mortal Kombat is definitely continuing, and maybe even Injustice 3, we just don’t know when or what comes first.

This is a tease without confirmation of what comes next. The important part is that he confirmed Mortal Kombat is coming, but not that it’s the next project.
That’s why there’s still a big chance that Injustice 3 could come before it.

NetherRealm Studios’ pattern has always been: first Mortal Kombat, then Injustice, then Mortal Kombat again.
But right now it looks like we got two Mortal Kombat games in a row, so logically the next one should be Injustice 3.
There are already many leaks and rumors about it, and this confirmation from Boon further strengthens the idea that they’re working on multiple things in parallel.

What we recently learned confirms that the Mortal Kombat series isn’t stopping anytime soon, but also that the studio has multiple projects at the same time.
Which means we could be getting Mortal Kombat, Injustice 3, and something else.

In short, a new Mortal Kombat game is confirmed, and we know NetherRealm Studios is working on multiple projects at once, while Injustice 3 is very likely.

Now we know it’s coming — but we don’t know when or what comes first.
