Kingdom Hearts 4 has finally returned from the dead, and that's after almost 4 years of near-complete silence from the game and its developers. No one expected this!

After nearly 4 years of absolute silence, Square Enix surprised fans during the recent Nintendo Direct presentation and showed completely new gameplay for Kingdom Hearts 4. Many expected this Nintendo Direct to only feature new ports of older games for the Nintendo Switch 2, but instead they got a brand-new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4!

The most interesting part and biggest shock of all this wasn't just that the game was shown, but that we finally got to see actual gameplay. The trailer showed Sora in action, new combat moves, the use of the Keyblade, and movement through the world that actually looks much more modern and dynamic than before. It also showed new characters and the return of some familiar faces from the series. For fans, this is a huge moment because since its announcement in 2022, Kingdom Hearts 4 had practically disappeared from people's radar and the entire internet, as if it had vanished into thin air.

Fans mostly couldn't believe that they actually showed Kingdom Hearts 4 at a Nintendo Direct. Earlier, people on the internet were literally writing every day that the chance of Kingdom Hearts 4 appearing at a Nintendo Direct was 0%, and that it would more likely be shown at some other event, but of course, as we can clearly see; a few hours later they had to eat their own words right now.

Kingdom Hearts 4 has finally received its first new gameplay showcase and proved that it hasn't disappeared into development limbo. There's still no release date though, but we do know that it's coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC.
