Hazelight Studios recently achieved an outstanding success, announcing that they have sold over 50 MILLION games in less than 10 years, and you won’t believe it — it’s ONLY 3 GAMES!
In total, they have sold;
A Way Out: 13 million
It Takes Two: 30 million, that was their absolute hit
Split Fiction: 7 million so far.
Believe it or not, one game, It Takes Two, literally brought them half of their success.
This is especially crazy — the studio only has 3 games in their catalog, and they are all co-op only, and on top of that they never made a live service or battle pass type game, and despite all that they still managed to surpass many AAA studios in total sales.
Most studios don’t reach that even in a lifetime, let alone in 10 years.
Josef Fares, their director, has a very unusual approach. And that is — no microtransactions, no grind nor live service, the focus is on story and co-op experience, and the strangest thing; FRIEND PASS WHERE ONE BUYS AND TWO PLAY!
That is one of the huge reasons why people kept playing their games.
Their latest game Split Fiction has the smallest share of sales, BUT it came out recently, that is 2025,
and it already has 7 million, REALISTICALLY, INSANELY STRONG START!
And now... Hazelight has already teased that they are working on a fourth game, and judging by the pattern each next game is a bigger hit than the previous one.
Hazelight Studio is proof that a good idea combined with good execution brings an outstanding budget and marketing.
We at TechPlay sincerely congratulate them on all their success so far and support them to keep going and keep up the good work! <3
