As we all already knew, Grand Theft Auto VI is not coming to PC at launch. But this time it’s not how many people thought; IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A PlayStation DEAL!

CEO Strauss Zelnick said that the reason they won’t release Grand Theft Auto VI on PC right away isn’t a marketing deal with Sony, but the main reason is that Rockstar Games is focused on the core consumer, meaning console players. Besides that, Rockstar Games also has a tradition where they first release games on consoles, and only later release them on PC.
An important factor for them is that the PC version can bring HUGE additional profit, meaning a second wave of sales.

This is basically a deliberate delay of the PC version, because consoles are the main market for Grand Theft Auto games, and in general it’s easier to optimize for fixed hardware. After that, they release the PC version and people buy it again, and it goes over and over again.
They are using a double dip strategy, with their main focus on core players, meaning console players.

As we all know, this isn’t the first time they’ve done this. Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 were both released on consoles first, and only later on PC.
Even though today PC can make up to 50% of sales, consoles are still the core audience.

This breaks the theory that Sony paid for exclusivity, and shows that Rockstar Games actually has its own strategy that has nothing to do with that.
It also means PC players will likely have to wait even 1+ year.

GTA 6 is not coming to PC at launch, and the reason is the focus on console players and their tradition.
So no, it’s not because of a PlayStation deal.

A classic Rockstar Games move—first they take money from console players, then once again from PC players.
