Grand Theft Auto 6 has officially been available for pre-order since yesterday. Considering that this is one of the most anticipated games of the last decade, it is hardly surprising that gamers rushed to secure their copies, with GTA 6 already temporarily sold out at some retailers.

The GTA 6 Standard Edition is priced at $80, while the Ultimate Edition will cost $100. Unfortunately, some players have been disappointed by the fact that the physical version currently does not include a disc, but instead comes with a digital code.

There is also a rumor circulating that a physical disc edition of GTA 6 could become available in December this year, less than a month after the game’s official launch.

The Game Business’s Chris Dring told VGC that, in his opinion, the decision is one that entirely benefits Rockstar and that the game will still sell in huge numbers regardless, despite the negative impact it may have on retailers.

“The decision will understandably upset some players, and potentially impact less digital-savvy consumers,” he said. “But in truth, for the majority of people, it won’t make much of a difference.”

As for collectors, we still hope the rumor about a disc version eventually becoming available turns out to be true.
