GreedFall devs, Spiders Studio shutsdown after failed launch

Studio from France, Spiders is officially shutting down. And that’s just 6 weeks after GreedFall: The Dying World was released.
The studio was known for so-called "eurojank" games — ambitious, but still technically imperfect.
In other words; the project simply failed to keep the studio alive.
What led to the shutdown is the fact that GreedFall: The Dying World did not achieve its expected success. Possible issues include weaker player engagement, technical problems (aka jank), and low sales. The studio was already operating on the edge of its budget.
So this is a classic case where one bad launch decided the fate of the entire studio.
Spiders was best known for games like GreedFall, The Technomancer, and Bound by Flame.
Their style focused on strong worldbuilding, AA budgets, and that "jank but charm" vibe.
They had a cult audience, but also a very specific identity.
Another AA studio disappearing from the industry shows just how brutal the market is today.
If you’re a new studio or game; you either become a hit, or you don’t survive.
And the eurojank style is slowly disappearing because it requires a bigger budget than most can afford, while not guaranteeing profit at all.
Spiders Studio is closed, and the new GreedFall didn’t save the situation.
The industry is becoming less forgiving toward mid-tier games.
This is a loss for the scene, because they made games that weren’t perfect — but had soul and identity. Which is pretty rare today...
