With the expansion of AI and changing trends in the industry, layoffs have become our everyday reality. Time and time again, we read about how hundreds and thousands of workers have been laid off from this or that company. A major shock and a wave of outrage were caused by Microsoft's reaction from July, where they laid off more than 3,000 people and closed 4 studios.
In support of the people from North America who suddenly lost their jobs, the United Videogame Workers union and Necrosoft Games launched the Game Industry Hardship Fund. The goal of this fund is to raise funds that would allow the aforementioned developers to secure the basics in terms of housing, food, and healthcare. The offer consists of 127 indie games with a total value of $1,023, and now you can get them for at least $10.
I intentionally said at least 10, because if you have deeper pockets, you can pay more, so the mentioned price represents only the minimum. Given the affordable price of the bundle, it's no surprise that the entire fund raised almost $110,000 in just a few days. The average price at which the bundle was bought is $14, and one person even bought it for $2,000.
There is nothing left for us to do but to praise the initiative and invite you, dear reader, to at least check out what it's all about. The mentioned price is really not high, and there is little chance that someone won't manage to find something interesting among the 127 games that make up the offer.
