Sony Interactive Entertainment and Santa Monica Studio have officially opened physical and digital pre-orders for God of War Laufey, revealing the available editions, pre-order bonuses and new details about Faye’s combat system.
The highly anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusive is scheduled to launch on February 16, 2027, marking a major change for the franchise as it becomes the first mainline God of War game without Kratos as its protagonist.
Instead, players will step into the role of Laufey the Just, better known as Faye, Kratos’ wife and Atreus’ mother, whose death set the events of 2018’s God of War in motion.
After unexpectedly awakening in a strange land following her own death, Faye discovers that the plans she put in place to protect her family are now at risk.
To save those she loves, she must fight her way through the Everywhen, an afterlife of the gods where ruthless deities from different mythologies compete for power in a world filled with dangerous magic.
Two editions and bonuses for players who pre-order
Alongside the start of pre-orders, Santa Monica Studio revealed the bonuses available to early buyers and detailed the additional content included with the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Anyone who purchases God of War Laufey before launch, regardless of whether they choose the Standard or Digital Deluxe Edition, will receive the following pre-order bonuses:
Last Wish Armor Set
Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance
In-game resource pack
The Golden Leaves Appearance is a cosmetic option for Phranque, Faye’s unusual gelatinous companion.

Players who prefer physical games will also be able to purchase God of War Laufey on Blu-ray. The pre-order bonuses included with the physical Standard Edition will be provided through a downloadable code.
For those looking for additional content, the Digital Deluxe Edition includes several exclusive Dark Alchemy items:
Dark Alchemy Armor Set
Dark Alchemy Blade
Dark Alchemy Bow Scales
Dark Alchemy Catalyst
In-game resource pack
Digital Mini Artbook
Official God of War Laufey Digital Soundtrack
Faye’s Serpent Bow introduces two different aiming styles
Santa Monica Studio also revealed new information about one of Faye’s primary weapons, the Serpent Bow.
The enchanted bow takes the form of a serpent and can quickly shift from a dormant state into combat position, allowing Faye to combine ranged attacks with close-quarters combat without interrupting the flow of battle.
The weapon features two distinct aiming modes.
Fully pressing the aim trigger activates Precision Mode, giving Faye more accurate aiming and increased range. Hitting specific parts of an enemy’s body can impair their movement or ability to attack, creating opportunities to follow up with melee strikes.
While using this mode, players can also charge the bow and stack up to five arrows before releasing them simultaneously in a powerful volley.
The attack can be particularly effective when combined with Phranque’s ability to launch enemies into the air.
A half press of the aim trigger activates a more mobile Hip-Fire Mode, allowing Faye to fire clusters of arrows at close range while maintaining greater freedom of movement.

This faster firing style can also be used to keep airborne enemies suspended and extend combos while switching between weapons and abilities.
Players will have access to several different arrow types as well, including rapid-fire shots, explosive arrows and attacks capable of targeting multiple enemies.
Weapons and equipment offer extensive customization
The Serpent Bow can also be customized through different Scales, which alter both its appearance and the type of playstyle it supports through unique perks.
The Dark Alchemy Bow Scales included with the Digital Deluxe Edition are one example.
Beyond the bow, Santa Monica Studio says players will be able to customize several key parts of Faye’s equipment.

Blades modify elements of Faye’s sword, while Scales customize the Serpent Bow. Catalysts, meanwhile, are powerful artifacts capable of channeling the magic of the Everywhen and can provide different effects depending on which one is equipped.
Faye will also have access to unlockable skills and multiple armor sets featuring different stats, gameplay perks and visual styles.
Combined with the Serpent Bow’s different firing modes, multiple arrow types and equipment customization, the combat system appears designed to give players considerably more freedom in shaping Faye’s fighting style.
God of War Laufey launches exclusively for PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027. Pre-orders are available now.
